How do I get login information for the website? 

If you are a paid member school, you have a master account for your school. The account holder can invite you to utilize a sub-account that is connected with the school. This is FREE with paid institution membership and a great way to connect with SWACUHO. Many areas of the site are password protected so make sure to ask your account holder to invite you as a sub-account!

How do I become a member institution of SWACUHO?
If you as the CHO (or you have verified with the CHO) know your institution is not a member of SWACUHO, click on "Become a Member Institution" at the top right of the SWACUHO website.


To verify if your school is a member institution, email or email your state director. Once you select a password and username on the "Become a Member Institution" page, you'll be directed through the application process. It's very easy! There is a nominal membership fee for institutions.


Paying the institutional membership fee based on your school's occupancy provides many benefits! Member institutions receive behind-the-scenes access to all sections of the website, the ability to attend conferences at a discounted rate, quarterly newsletters, access to awards and recognition opportunities, and other countless professional development opportunities! 

How do I know who my account holder is? 

Your master account holder is typically your CHO or Business Manager. However, if you are unsure of who this is, please submit a contact form and the Technology Coordinator will be happy to assist you. 

What is a master account? 

A master account is essentially the parent account for a paid member institution. Each level of school (small, medium, large) is allotted a certain number of sub-accounts. The master account holder (typically the CHO or Business Manager) can then invite employees from their institution to create individual sub-accounts that are included in the institutional membership fee. 

What is a sub-account? 

A sub-account is a FREE account for individual employees of a paid member institution. If you are interested in one of these, please contact your school's account holder and request that they invite you as a sub-account holder. If you have trouble with this or do not know who to contact, please submit a contact form and the Technology Coordinator will assist you. 

How do I join an email listserv? 

To join the general SWACUHO listserv, navigate to "Get Connected" and "SWACUHO Listserv". Enter your email address, select "subscribe" and then "Go!". Some people receive a confirmation email that requires a reply. All you do is hit reply to that email. Do not type anything in the message or title. It is just asking for you to hit reply to the email and "send". 

To join a state level listserv, you must be signed in to the site. Then, follow the same steps for subscribing to the general listserv. 


How do I get involved in a committee? 

First, make sure you have a sub-account. Once signed in, navigate to "Get Connected" and "Join a Committee". Read the descriptions and click "Join Group" for the groups in which you are interested. Also, you can see which groups you are in by navigating to your profile and clicking on "My Groups". 

What is considered a new professional? 

A new professional is defined as a professional with 0 - 5 years of full-time professional experience in housing. 

What is considered a mid-level professional? 

The mid-level professional is the most widely disputed professional level. However, this level typically is a professional that is beyond an entry-level position (typically first position out of graduate school such as a hall director or any live-on professional that supervises mainly RAs). 

What is considered an upper-level professional? 

An upper-level professional is seasoned in the field but not necessary a Chief Housing Officer. Typically, they report directly to the CHO but has mid-level and entry-level professionals that they supervise. 

What is considered a Chief Housing Officer (CHO)? 

The Chief Housing Officer is the most senior level position in the housing department of an institution. This person typically reports to the senior student affairs professional at their institution, but each institution is structured differently.
