[CHO STEERING COMMITTEE]

The CHO Steering Committee encourages greater involvement and facilities issues of concern to Chief Housing Officers within SWACUHO.

The committee coordinates the CHO workshop held each fall, the CHO roundtable breakfast held at the annual conference, and forwards feedback on key issues to the Executive Board of SWACUHO.

[DIVERSITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE]

The Diversity Committee ensures that an environment exists within the region that is positive, equitable. Respectful, educational, and supportive of people regardless of their national origin, race, color, religion, gender, age, ethnicity, physical ability sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background.

The committee serves as a resource for programs and articles, awards and recognition for achievements in supporting diversity, conducts regional research, and develops strategies to encourage greater diversity representation in the region.

[EXHIBITS AND DISPLAYS COMMITTEE]

The Exhibits and Displays Committee works closely with our vendors to create an exhibits & display area at the annual conference with institutional and commercial exhibits which are useful and informative to the SWACUHO membership.

[HOST COMMITTEE]
The Host Committee has the responsibility for providing all of the arrangements required to successfully provide for the well-being and welfare of delegates attending the annual conference and mid-year planning sessions of the association.


A host institution is generally chosen two years in advance by the Executive Board at the annual meeting following the review of bid presentations by all interested parties. Host Committee responsibilities generally include: providing a relevant conference theme; designing a conference logo; providing housing accommodations; securing appropriate meeting room reservations; registration and related promotional efforts; provision for banquet meals, coffee breaks and the annual business luncheon; transportation arrangement recommendations and coordination; clerical and hospitality services.

[MID-LEVEL ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE]

The Mid-Level Committee offers professional development and networking opportunities for mid-level administrators (such as area coordinators, assistant and associate directors).

In addition to a mid-level roundtable breakfast at the annual conference, the committee works to expand mid-level opportunities such as establishing workshops, social events, and soliciting presentations from mid-level staff for the annual conference.

[NEWSLETTERS AND COMMUNICATIONS]

The Newsletter and Communications Committee gathers and distributes information to member institutions. The committee compiles newsletters; contacts member schools to request updated  information and to solicit articles. This committee provides information about SWACUHO and its  membership to other organizations.

[PLACEMENT SERVICES COMMITTEE]

The Placement Services Committee is responsible for providing an organized system of bringing candidates and potential employers together. The committee also works to maintain job announcements that occur within housing and food service areas via the SWACUHO web page.

This committee also works cooperatively with the SWACUHO Newsletter Editor to publish position announcements that occur within housing and food services at member institutions. Click here to learn about year-round employment opportunities and placement services at the annual conference.

[PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE]

Established to promote staff development and training opportunities and for entry level residence life professionals, this committee coordinates the New Professionals Institute (SWACUHO-U) held in the fall. The committee also facilitates the New Professionals’ Case Study Competition at the annual conference.

[PROGRAM COMMITTEE]

The Awards and Recognition Committee provides a way to recognize excellence, service, and contributions to SWACUHO, the housing profession, and institutions represented. Institutions and individuals deserving of special merit are recognized at the annual conference.

[RESEARCH, INFORMATION, & ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE]

This committee is responsible for studying specific areas of interest to the association and to make recommendations to the Executive Board for implementation. The committee also gathers statistical information from member institutions and distributes the results. Member institutions are surveyed on a regular basis concerning services, rates and other topics of interest.

[TIME AND PLACE COMMITTEE]

The Time and Place Committee solicits bid proposals for the RA and SWACUHO conferences from member schools. The chair serves as a consultant to conference and Host Committee and as a liaison with the SWACUHO executive board and the various host institutions.
