SWACUHO Executive Board Highlights - July 2026

Meeting Overview

Date: July 10, 2026

The Executive Board continued building momentum for the 2026–27 year, with discussions centered on membership recruitment, upcoming programs and events, and future-focused organizational planning. Highlights included launching more personalized membership outreach efforts, exploring a pilot travel grant program, advancing conference planning, and identifying strategic topics for Mid-Year discussions. The Board also approved a Resolution of Commendation for a graduate and received updates from committees across the association.

Key Discussion Areas

Membership & Engagement

  • The membership drive is underway, with several institutions already renewing. A correction is being made to membership emails that incorrectly displayed payment dates as expiration dates.

  • After discussion, the Board decided not to send mass membership postcards this year. Instead, State Directors will focus on more personalized outreach efforts, including handwritten notes and relationship-based engagement.

  • Executive Board members will continue identifying institutions that may benefit from additional encouragement, connection, or support to return as SWACUHO members.

Investing in Members

  • Following the cost savings from the Campus Home. Live! Regional Reception, the Board discussed how to reinvest approximately $2,500 back into the membership. A pilot travel grant program is being developed and will be presented at the August Board meeting.

Annual Conference & Mid-Year Planning

  • Planning continues for the 2027 Annual Conference, including conversations around social and reception formats, conference app functionality, and registration timelines.

  • Planning for the Mid-Year Meeting is well underway, too. Reach out to your Committee Chair if you’re a committee member who should attend Mid-Year.

Organizational Strategy & Financial Planning

  • The Board began discussing long-term fiscal philosophies, including reserve targets, conference surpluses, and the possibility of establishing a dedicated emergency fund to support the organization's long-term sustainability.

  • Additional Mid-Year discussions will focus on strategic priorities, committee expectations, virtual engagement opportunities, leadership requirements, and the future structure of host institutions and conference planning.

Communications & Technology

  • The Communications Committee received approval to move forward with a new Executive Board marketing plan that will feature monthly spotlights of Presidents and State Directors.

  • The Board also discussed enhancing website organization, including creating a dedicated Digest section, and simplifying ACUHO-I content.

Awards & Recognition

  • The Board unanimously approved a Resolution of Commendation honoring a housing professional graduating with an advanced degree within the region.

  • The Awards & Recognition Committee is reviewing award criteria and processes to improve consistency, accessibility, and alignment across recognition programs.
